Give your inquiry a clear starting point.
For a new work, describe the subject, approximate size and intended setting. Reference images and photographs of the display space help explain proportion and viewing distance. Mention any presentation date or access constraint before a design is discussed.
For an existing object, begin with photographs of the whole piece, its reverse, base, marks and any damage. Include dimensions and the ownership history you know, keeping family recollections separate from written records. Do not polish, dismantle or send a fragile object before discussing it.
